Physicians of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Advocacy

Welcome

PONDA is a network of physicians and psychologists in Ontario whose goal is to advocate for children, youth and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions that require higher levels of health related services. These conditions are chronic and affect physical, developmental, behavioural and/or emotional functioning.

PONDA seeks to optimize services and maximize the function and participation of people with neurodevelopmental conditions in accordance with the International Classification Functioning, Disability, and Health framework (ICF).

Our Mission:

PONDA is a volunteer network of physicians and psychologists advocating to optimize the well-being of individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions in Ontario by promoting evidence-informed policy in the systems of care.

PONDA Word Cloud

PONDA was established in 2011 and members include clinicians, researchers and leaders in the fields of general and developmental paediatrics, family medicine, pediatric neurology, psychology and psychiatry. We have collaborated with a number of organizations, including the Canadian Pediatric Society, the Ontario Medical Association – Neurodevelopmental Disorders Medical Interest Group (NDD MIG), Empowered Kids Ontario, the AODA Alliance, Dyslexia Canada, Developmental Disabilities Primary Care Program – Surrey Place, CanChild, Developmental Paediatric and Family Medicine training programs.

There are many strengths in the service system of Ontario and also many challenges. As a key stakeholder, PONDA is uniquely positioned to contribute to discussions with policy-makers, professionals and caregivers to address the challenges in caring for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions across their lifespan, and their families. We are available to participate in discussions and contribute with our vision to improve the experiences and outcomes for this population.
